Senior attacker Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and senior attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) had 2 goals and an assist apiece as 14th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan opened the second half with 5 consecutive goals, but Messiah held off the Bishop comeback and went on to take a non-conference win on Saturday at Peters Township High School in McMurray, Pa. The Bishops trailed, 11-2, at the half, but Hildebrand got the offense going with a pair of goals during the first 2:01 of the third quarter, with Tennant contributing an assist on the first. Tennant followed with a score, courtesy of a feed from Hildebrand, and after a man-down goal by senior midfielder Cole Jamieson (Okemos, Mich.), it was Tennant again, ringing up an unassisted goal that brought Ohio Wesleyan within 11-7 with 4:06 left in the third period. Messiah ended the Bishop run with a goal by Hunter Bellows late in the third quarter, and the Falcons would protect the lead by answering each Ohio Wesleyan goal with a goal of their own. Joseph Franken had given the Falcons the lead with a goal in the first minute of the game, and Bellows followed with back-to-back goals just over a minute apart. Hildebrand put the Bishops on the scoreboard with a goal during the final minute of the opening quarter, but Dylan Gillisse answered for the Falcons with a goal at the :09 mark of the period. Messiah's Garrett Amsbaugh would score 3 times during the second period, and the Falcons closed out the first-half scoring with a man-up goal with :21 remaining. Hildebrand led the Bishops with 3 goals and an assist, while Tennant and Jamieson each contributed 2 goals and an assist. Sophomore Zach Brasser (Westport, Conn./Millbrook (N.Y.) School) had 12 saves during the first half and junior Joey Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.) made 3 saves during the second half. Bellows finished with 4 goals for the Falcons. Evan Stoker had 11 saves for Messiah.
