Marissa Gore had four goals and two assists, while Camryn Klaus and Caroline Farley scored three each to lead Kennesaw State to a 19-7 women's lacrosse victorY over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today.
The Hornets hung tough early in the contest. DSU scored first 15 seconds into the game, and only trailed 7-4 after a goal by Gwenna Gentle at the 14:31 mark of the opening period.
Gentle and Emmy McGill led the Hornets with two goals each. Gentle's second goal of the first period pulled Delaware State to within 10-5 with 8:05 to go before the break.
Kennesaw State led 12-5 at halftime.
The Owls scored the first three goals of the second period, and opened up a 15-5 lead on a goal by Natalie Welch 26:06 left to play.
McGill scored each of her goals in the second period. Her second score cut Kennesaw State's lead to 17-7 with just under 13 minutes left to play.
