The Moravian College men's lacrosse team moved to 5-0 for the first time in program history with a 20-4 non-conference win over Rosemont College Saturday afternoon on John Makuvek Field. The Greyhounds, who were on the turf less than 24 hours after completing a match in Florida, set a school record with 68 shots in the match and tied the program mark for ground balls in a contest with 66 as all 33 players in uniform saw action in the match. The Hounds had 11 different goal scorers with junior attack Kevin Darling netting his first career hat trick to go with an assist. Sophomore attack Matt Comini also had his first career hat trick while senior Mark Laratta netted his fourth straight hat trick of the season and the 20th of his career. Junior attack Cade Siddron scored a pair of goals and a career-best four assists while senior attack Jack Gozzard and junior midfielder Brandon Sisk each scored two goals. Freshman attack Griffin LeBlond added a goal and an assist while junior midfielder Peter Degnan, sophomore attack Connor Hull, freshman attack Connor James and freshman attack Trevor McNamara all scored one goal. Freshman midfielder Kevin Berlin added the first two assists of his career while senior midfielder John Kerrison had one assist. Sophomore goalie Will Dadouris made seven saves and added three ground balls in his first start of the season while senior Rick Guerra won 11-of-12 face-offs and had a team-high eight ground balls. Freshman Ben Walek was 9-for-14 on face-offs with six ground balls while junior long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. McNamara and junior defender Brian Anthony each scooped up four ground balls while Berlin and senior defender Brian Biase both had three ground balls. Sophomore defender Tanner Leslie added a pair of caused turnovers while Laratta, Degnan, Hull, Sisk, James, junior defender Brian Darling, freshman midfielder Zach Bergeron and freshman midfielder Nick Nolder all had two ground balls. Moravian was able to successfully clear the ball from the defensive end 18-of-22 times, and the Blue and Grey were 2-for-5 with a man advantage and also scored once while down a man. Laratta opened the score just 1:21 into the contest and Siddron and Gozzard followed with goals to make it 3-0 with 5:44 remaining in the first quarter. The Ravens scored next before a late goal from James had the Greyhounds leading 4-1 after 15 minutes of action. Laratta and Comini scored in the first two minutes of the second quarter to make it a 6-1 match before Rosemont scored again. The Hounds would add five more goals and head to the intermission with an 11-2 lead after Sisk's man-down goal to end the half. Moravian stretched its lead to 15-3 after 45 minutes of action, and the Blue and Grey tallied five more goals in the fourth quarter including man-up goals by Kevin Darling and McNamara. The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 13 when the squad heads to Center Valley to play DeSales University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
