Nine different members of the No. 18 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team scored to highlight a very special day at North Country Field, as the Saints topped Oswego State 15-4, and honored the late Garrett Dunsmoor '18 in a halftime ceremony on Saturday afternoon. Senior Conor Caffrey led the Saints with four goals, two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Mike Donnelly, Brian Cunningham and Brett Williams all tallied two goals an assist. Kyle Gagne, Ben Murtagh, Garret Glasgow, Stew Hutchinson and Jack Hennessey also scored for the Saints in today's win. Zachary Prime went 11-for-16 at the faceoff dot and recorded four ground balls for the Saints. In a combined defensive effort, Tyler Burns, Alex Terry, Owen Manley, Zachary Ettinghausen, Patrick Abad and Michael Gigantelli each caused one turnover. Tim Schof and Bobby Emerson each traded goals with Donnelly, as the Saints and the Lakers were tied 2-2 after the first 15 minutes of play. The Saints scored five unanswered goals in the second quarter, including a last second goal from Caffrey, to build a 7-2 lead at halftime. Gagne, Caffrey and Williams scored to increase the Saints lead to eight goals, before Evan Hollfelder scored for the Lakers at 7:59 of the third. St. Lawrence outscored Oswego 5-1 down the stretch for the win. Hutchinson tacked on the last goal for the Saints, netting his first collegiate goal. "It was a real sound effort across the board offensively and defensively today," said head coach Mike Mahoney '93 P'22. "Most importantly, it was a very special day to have Garrett Dunsmoor's family back on campus and to honor Owen with the "GD12 Commitment" award." Evan Hollfelder led the Lakers with a goal and an assist, while Tim Schof, Bobby Emerson and Caleb Alford also scored once for Oswego. John Petrelli picked up a team-best four ground balls and caused one turnover, while Kyle O'Connor went 7-for-18 at the faceoff dot. Terry, who is currently fourth in Division III with a 6.30 goals against average, finished with 11 saves and was relieved by Jordan Eichholz, who recorded one. Kevin O'Donnell made 14 saves for the Lakers. St. Lawrence outshot Oswego 47-30 and maintained a 29-16 shots on goal advantage. The Saints, who currently rank third in the country in clearing percentage converted on 17-of-18 clears and picked up 23 ground balls to the Lakers' 14. Manley was presented with the first annual "GD 12 Commitment" award. The "GD 12 Commitment" award is presented, when merited, to the player who best exemplifies the qualities that Garrett embodied; unwavering optimism, commitment to overall lacrosse development, the pursuit of academic excellence, and selfless dedication to the team. Garrett's parents, John and Judy, as well as his siblings MacKenzie and Dylan were on campus to present the award. The Saints improved to 7-1 on the season, while Oswego fell to 5-2 overall. St. Lawrence will host Plattsburgh State on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m.
