St. Lawrence jumped out to an early advantage and kept its distance from the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team, as the Thoroughbreds fell by an 11-4 score in Liberty League action from Wachenheim Field Saturday afternoon. Skidmore falls to 3-8 and 0-5 in Liberty League contests. St. Lawrence, ranked 19th nationally, improves to 9-1 and 3-0. Jason Shlonsky led Skidmore with a pair of goals. Hudson Miller added a goal and assist. Eric Megnia also scored. Colby Farnham and John Leitner added three ground balls each. Farnham, Sam Ohotnicky, Teddy Heroux, and Bryce Soucy each caused a turnover. Tim Rahill was busy in net with 18 saves. He also picked up four ground balls. Jack Hennesey led St. Lawrence with four points, via one goal and three assists. Mike Donnelly and Harrison Koch each scored twice. Alex Terry made eight saves in 54:27 to earn the victory, with Jordan Eichholz and William Helm finishing the game in net. The Saints pulled out to a quick 3-0 lead before Skidmore responded with a Miller goal at the 3:54 mark. St. Lawrence then pulled ahead to an 8-1 advantage before Megnia capped the first half with a goal, coming off a Skidmore timeout with eight seconds left. The scoring slowed down in the second half, but the Saints were able to keep Skidmore at bay with three goals. Shlonsky tallied both his goals in the second half, first off a Miller feed at the 10:11 mark of the third quarter, then finished the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 4:23 mark. St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore by a 46-26 margin. The Thoroughbreds were 20-for-26 in clear opportunities. Skidmore hosts No. 3 RIT in its next contest, at Wachenheim Field on Saturday, April 13 in a 1 p.m. start.
