Goucher College played a great first half before Susquehanna University pulled away in the second half in Landmark Conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday. Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton) and Andrew Sade (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) each found the twine twice for the Gophers while Mason Gorman (Boise, Idaho/Eagle) added a tally and two helpers in the loss. Heath notched his third multi-goal performance of the season and first she he recorded back-to-back hat tricks against Gordon College on March 11 and Neumann University two days later. Heath ranks fifth on the team with 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. Sade notched his fifth multi-goal performance of the season and 12th of his career. The junior ranks second on the team in goals (19) and fourth in points (20). The second tally on the afternoon was the 50th of his career and now has 50 goals and four assists for 54 points. Gorman has registered a point in five-straight games and six of the eight games he has played this year. He has six tallies and six assists for 12 points on the year and 44 markers and 25 assists for 69 points in his four-year career. Goucher jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first quarter. After the River Hawks scored the first tally of the afternoon, Rashaan Evans (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) tied the game at 1 with an unassisted tally at 11:14 before Sade gave the Gophers a one-goal lead with an unassisted marker at 9:04. Heath then scored consecutive goals to reclaim the lead for the Gophers at 4-2. The freshman found the back of the net unassisted at 6:11 and then scored again off a Gorman feeder at 4:14 for a two-goal margin. Grant Lasorda (Collegeville, Pa./Germantown Academy) answered a Susquehanna goal unassisted at 3:14 for a 5-3 edge, but the River Hawks scored the final three tallies of the high-scoring opening frame to take a 6-5 lead. Sade tied the contest at 6 with the first goal of the second quarter at 13:12 and Zephan Harnish (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) evened the game at 7 off a pass from Gorman at 9:53. Susquehanna posted the final two goals of the half to go to the break with a 9-7 advantage. Gorman scored unassisted at 10:11 in the third quarter to cut the margin to 10-8, but the River Hawks scored the final seven markers to earn a 17-8 win. Sam Gravel (Rockville, Md./St. Andrews Episcopal School) paced the defense with a career-high seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Gravel ranks second on the squad with 41 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Alex Shields (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) made 14 saves in between the pipes. Harnish has 69 goals and 24 assists in his career, needing seven points to reach 100 for his career. Goucher returns to action on Thursday at home against Immaculata. Game time is 4 p.m.
