Middlebury tallied the game's first nine goals, as the Panthers handled visiting Trinity in a 22-6 NESCAC victory on Saturday. The 22 goals marks the most since Middlebury recorded 24 in win over Castleton in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The Panthers (6-6, 4-4) head to Plattsburgh State on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. start in the final non-conference game of the season, while the Bantams (8-5, 3-5) are idle until next Saturday when they host Colby at 7:00 p.m. Middlebury exploded for all eight goals in the opening frame, starting the scoring 2:12 into the contest. Tyler Forbes sent a laser from the right side past Bantam goalie Brady Burke and Chase Goree followed with a tally just over a minute later. Will Brossman fired a shot from the top of the restraining box as the shot clock ticked down, giving the hosts a 3-0 cushion. Jake Madnick won the ensuing face off and tallied 13 seconds later, before Forbes scored in transition following a turnover just 21 seconds after that. The Panthers tacked on three more goals before the end of the frame for an 8-0 lead. Jack Hoelzer gave the hosts a 9-0 edge with 1:51 expired in the second stanza on a bounce shot as the shot clock expired. Trinity's Ben Ferrucci put the visitors on the scoreboard with a man-up goal minutes later. After a tally by Forbes from the top of the crease, the Bantams recorded a pair of scores in the final 2:27 of the half to make it a 10-3 contest at the break. Goree used a rising shot 40 seconds into the third frame and A.J. Kucinski scored three minutes later, helping the hosts extend the lead difference to 12-3. The Bantams used a three-goal run with Drew Kozub assisting on the first and netting the next two to cut the margin to 12-6. Middlebury added the next two scores, making it a 14-6 game. For the second quarter of the game, Middlebury outscored the Bantams 8-0 with Kucinski and Goree each scoring twice in that span. The Panthers finished the game on a 10-0 run and the team's defense kept Trinity off the scoreboard for the final 21:22. Kucinski led all players with seven points on four goals and three assists, while Forbes tallied five times with one helper. Goree found the back of the net four times, with Jack Gould adding two goals and two assists. Jake Madnick went 16-27 on face offs and collected a game-high seven ground balls. Goalie Tyler Bass (2-0) finished with 12 saves in 52:48 of playing time, while Charles Midgley had one save in the final 7:12. Kozub topped the Bantams with two goals and one assist, while Ferrucci scored twice.
