At home for the second game in a row to start the season, Harvard men's lacrosse fell in double overtime to Holy Cross, 10-9, on Tuesday evening at Jordan Field. Senior Morgan Cheek led the offense with six points, including a career-best five assists, while sophomores Kyle Anderson and Ryan Graff scored two goals apiece. Senior Robert Shaw tallied 13 saves between the posts. Holy Cross (1-2) got out to an early 3-1 lead over Harvard (1-1) after the first quarter, but the Crimson responded with four goals in the second frame to take a 5-3 lead into the intermission. Senior Joe Lang joined Cheek, Anderson and Graff with goals in the quarter. The Crimson stretched its lead to 8-5 in the third with goals from senior Tim Edmonds, freshman Charlie Olmert and Anderson, but the Crusaders responded with four consecutive goals to take the lead with just under four minutes to play in regulation. Forcing extra time, Cheek found senior Carney Mahon for a game-tying score with just 1:09 to play. Needing a second overtime to find a winner, Holy Cross scored with 3:22 to go in the period to earn the win.
