DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Hawk goalie Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) submitted a 20-save effort in just over 45 minutes of action between the pipes to help Roger Williams to an 18-6 non-conference victory over UMass Dartmouth at Cressy Field on Monday afternoon. Records: Hawks 6-3, Corsairs 3-3 How it Happened Corsair junior tri-captain Mike Rizzo (Bridgewater, Mass.) took matters into his own hands less than two minutes into the game with an unassisted goal for an early lead (1-0). The visitors tallied the equalizer four minutes later via junior Jude Marzec's (West Islip, N.Y.) feed from behind the net to the right side for sophomore Gabe Reale (Fairfield, Conn.) (1-1). Marzec then notched another point, this time on the scoring side of it, to give his team a lead (2-1) that sophomore Abdullah Nassif (Hanover, Mass.) went on to add to (3-1). UMass Dartmouth freshman Jake Coombes (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked off a Hawk pass at midfield before hustling up field to finish what he started on the other end (3-2). Marzec then teamed up with sophomore Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.) to avenge the marker at the 76-second mark (4-2). The Hawks collected the first score of the ensuing period through the work of Grier and sophomore Daniel Civiello (Killingworth, Conn.), restoring a three-goal lead (5-2). Roger Williams then extended its lead to four on a quick pass from Civiello to wide-open freshman Ryan Phillips (Hanover, Mass.) (6-2), but the Corsairs got one right back 23 ticks later through freshman Alexi Fauzey (Charlestown, R.I.) (6-3). Sophomore attack Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) added a last second score for the visitors ahead of the halftime horn (7-3). With less than a minute dissolved into the second half, sophomore Peter Navarro (Londonderry, N.H.) made it a five-score advantage (8-3), before stretching the difference to six as sophomore Brenden Whitten (Kennebunk, Maine) soared down field with a head of steam and spin before finishing (9-3). The visiting squad found the nylon on seven more occasions in the final frame, cruising to the victory. Inside the Numbers Nine different Hawks scored, and six had multi-score performances. Marzec posted a game-high seven points featuring five helpers. Roger Williams owned the faceoff game by taking 20 of 28. Shots were nearly dead even, with the Corsairs taking a hair more (39-38). Up Next Head Coach Ryan Murphy and the squad get back to it on Wednesday, taking to Emerson College at 6 p.m. Roger Williams continues play at Western New England an hour later.
