The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team won 12-9 over Johnson & Wales University on Sunday afternoon in a neutral site matchup. Full stats were not provided at the conclusion of the game. Piedmont jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals by the Jenks' duo. AVERY JENKS scored the game's first goal with an assist from JOSH COBBINA at the 10:08 mark in the first quarter before older brother BRADY JENKS scored a pair of unassisted goals to close the quarter. Both teams traded goals in the second quarter before the Lions closed the half with goals from A. Jenks and Cobbina. Piedmont led 6-2 headed into the third quarter. The third quarter saw a bevy of scoring as JWU outscored PC 4-3. The Wildcats started things early in the quarter before JACOB WITTENBERG answered just over a minute later. JWU would score with 11:14 remaining, but B. Jenks responded before CHASE GOFF added to Piedmont's total. The Wildcats scored twice to end the third. B. Jenks scored a man-up goal to give Piedmont a 10-6 lead before Wittenberg and JARED BROCK put the Lions ahead 12-6. Piedmont looked to be in control of the game before an illegal stick penalty against Piedmont with 3:28 left in the game gave JWU a three-minute man-up advantage. The Wildcats scored at 2:03, 51 seconds and 17 seconds to pull within three goals, but time expired and the Lions prevailed victorious. Turning Point -- Piedmont jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. Inside The Box Score -- BRADY JENKS scored four goals with one assist. Up Next -- The Lions will play Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in Savannah, Ga. Gametime is set for 11 a.m.
