Lasell College got goals from 12 different players Saturday afternoon as the Lasers defeated Albertus Magnus College, 21-3, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse action at Grellier Field. Senior Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass.) led the scoring parade for Lasell with three goals and three assists, while senior Liam Gillis (Reading, Mass.) added a career-high three goals and one assist and freshman James Anderson (Medway, Mass.) also scored three times. Sophomore Josif Giogas (Burlington, Mass.) tallied a career-high two goals and two assists, and senior James Torosian (Lynn, Mass.) and sophomore Andrew Fidalgo (Wilbraham, Mass.) chipped in with two goals apiece. Lasell put the game in hand with an 8-0 score after the first quarter. The Lasers added the first six goals of the second quarter before the visitors got on the scoreboard with 17 seconds remaining to make it a 14-1 margin at the break. Lasell outscored Albertus 7-2 in the second half to clinch the victory. The Lasers won their fifth straight game to improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC, while Albertus drops to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Falcons got one goal apiece from senior James May (Branford, Conn.), sophomore Mykel Stinson (Bridgeport, Conn.) and freshman Terrell Yarborugh (New Haven, Conn.). Lasell won 19 of 28 face-offs, with freshman Steven Phelps (Stamford, Conn.) winning 11-of-17 and junior Ben Werner (Boxford, Mass.) was good on 6-of-9. The Lasers won the ground ball battle, 54-15, led by Phelps with 10 and Werner and senior Evan Abatiell (Rutland, Vt.) with five apiece. The home team had a 49-11 advantage in shots. Senior John Brunetti (West Haven, Conn.) made seven saves for Albertus in the first half, and freshman Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) made five stops in the second half. Freshman Alex Beauchemin (Westfield, Mass.), junior Ryan Janovic (East Lyme, Conn.) and sophomore Mike Davison (Burlington, Mass.) needed to make just three saves combined in the Laser goal. The Lasers will be home again on Wednesday, March 27, when they host the University of Massachusetts Boston in a 4 p.m. non-conference encounter at Grellier Field. The Falcons travel to Mitchell College on the same day for a 4 p.m. contest.
