Stockton University (16-2) advanced to the Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) title game with a 24-7 win over Bryn Athyn (4-9) on Saturday night in the semi-finals. Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) scored seven goals and dished three assists for 10 points to lead the Ospreys. With the win, Stockton tied the school record for wins in a season with 16 (2017). Stockton started strong, scoring the first five goals of the game and never looked back. Three markers by Swedlund and a goal each by Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) and Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) put Stockton up 5-0 with 7:14 left in the first quarter. The Lions potted two scores to slice the lead to 5-2, before Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.), on a Poli assist, scored as the clock ran out in the period for a 6-2 margin. Six consecutive goals by Stockton to start the second frame put the game out of reach. Three goals by Anderson and one each by Swedlund, Poli and Peter Burke (Shamong/Seneca) made it 12-2 with 6:51 left in the half. Bryn Athyn finished the half scoring three of the final four goals to cut the Osprey lead to 13-5 at the break. A 7-0 third period, highlighted by two goals each from Burke and Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) made it 20-5 after three periods. The final frame became academic with Stockton holding a 4-2 advantage and setting the final score at 24-7 and advancing to the CSAC title match. In addition to Swedlund, Anderson also had a 10-point night with six goals and four assists. Burke and Ellis potted three goals each, with Poli adding two goals and two helpers. Matt Thermann (Spring Lake Hts./Manasquan) led the team with seven ground balls and won 17-27 face-offs, while Ryan Bradley (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) led the team with three caused turnovers and scooped six ground balls. Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) started in net, playing the first 42:13 making five saves, before giving way to Thomas Sullivan (Morristown/Morristown) who finished up the final 17:47 and kicked out two shots. Bryn Athyn was led by Cameron Leech with three goals. Netminder Brad DePasquale kicked out 21 Osprey attempts in the loss. Stockton will face Montclair State at home for the CSAC Championship next Saturday. Game time is set for 1pm.
