Marian University men's lacrosse (12-5, 8-3 MLC) saw their season come to an end after being defeated by Aurora 27-8 in the MLC tournament semifinals. The Spartans jumped out scoring the first three goals of the game only to have the Sabres bounce back to tie the game at 3-3. Freshman John Lovesee opened the scoring before fellow freshman Jackson Allsop found the back of the net with an assist to sophomore Garrett Houlihan. Sophomore Jeremy Eisele was able to tie the game with a man-up goal, assist to freshman Erik Horman. Aurora then took control of the game closing out the first half scoring 12 of the next 13 goals. The Spartans continued to dominate outscoring Marian 12-4 in the second half with the Sabres scoring three goals in the third quarter and one final goal in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Connor Houlihan scored a man-up goal, while G. Houlihan and freshman Colt Robertson added goals in the third quarter. Freshman Finn Maloney scored the final goal of the season with an assist to fellow freshman Tyler Holmes. Holmes led the way with a team-high five ground balls, while freshman Casey Dare and Vincent Mercadante each added three ground balls. In goal, freshman Johnny Estrada made 13 saves on 40 shots. The MLC tournament appearance was the first in program history in just the second season. The Sabres were also able to finish with double-digit wins for the first time in program history.
