The highest-scoring team in NCAA Division III was limited to its second-lowest goal total of the season as the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team was bumped from the NCAA tournament in a 22-9 second-round loss to Rhodes College on Wednesday, May 8, at Tucci Stadium. Photo Gallery, Illinois Wesleyan vs. Rhodes | Postgame Press Conferences The Titans, who had a 12-game winning streak snapped, finish with a 16-2 record, tying the school mark for wins in a season. IWU entered the game ranked No. 1 in Division III with 20.0 goals per game and scored the team's fewest goals since being limited to six against Salisbury in a 22-6 loss on March 15. Illinois Wesleyan was outshot, 59-45, and the Lynx had 41 shots on goal compared to 28 for IWU. Rhodes also did something that only Salisbury was able to do, winning more faceoffs than the Titans. The Lynx had 20-of-35, leaving IWU with 15 with 14 of those coming from Max Bousky. Freshman Rick Smith and senior Will Rossi each scored three goals for Illinois Wesleyan while freshman Charles Hildestad had two goals and senior Bailey Marth scored one with an assist. Rhodes, who advances with a 16-3 record, got five goals from Christian Cisneros and three each from Addison Mueller and David Perez. Goalkeeper Cameron Link made 17 saves in 56:50 of playing time.
