The University of Richmond is heading back to the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championship game for the fifth-straight year and the 12th time in program history after the second-seeded Spiders posted a 19-12 victory over third-seeded Saint Joseph's Friday afternoon at Robins Stadium. Richmond will face top-seeded Massachusetts in the championship game Sunday at noon at Robins Stadium. The game marks the fifth-straight championship meeting between the Spiders and Minutewomen. Richmond is looking for its fourth A-10 Conference Tournament title in program history and the first since the 2007 season. Kim Egizi set the Richmond single-season points record in the victory, finishing the day with eight points on the strength of four goals and four assists. Egizi now has 87 points on the season with 59 goals and 28 assists, surpassing Sam Geiersbach's record of 85 points set just last season. Marissa Brown tied an Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament record with nine points in the victory, matching the output of Temple's Kelly Ruch in 2000. Brown finished the game with five goals and four assists in the victory. The Spiders 29 total points are second all-time in A-10 Conference Tournament history for a single-game, trailing only the 34-point effort by Massachusetts set last year against Davidson. Brown opened the scoring just over six minutes into the game before the two teams traded goals. Saint Joseph's took a 3-2 lead with 12:08 remaining in the first half on a Haley Sabol goal. The Spiders responded to the adversity and poured in four-straight goals over the final 9:41 of the half to take a 6-3 lead into the break. Mia Castagnero tied the game with her 14th of the season before Egizi notched her 56th of the year to give Richmond the lead. Brown added her second of the game before Katie Trainer scored with 23 seconds left in the half for the three-goal cushion at halftime. The Spiders continued their scoring onslaught with three more goals in the first 2:37 of the second half taking a 9-3 lead. Julia Schmuckler scored her first of the game while Brown posted a hat trick with her third and Trainer scored her second of the game. The teams traded goals back and forth until Katie Sciandra moved into a tie for third all-time in single-season goals with Caitlin Fifield (2012) as she posted her 60th of the season giving Richmond a 13-7 lead. The Spiders would extend to 15-8 as Schmuckler scored her second of the game and Brown added her fifth of the contest. Egizi got the record with 8:04 remaining in the game, recording a hat trick for the 16-10 lead. She wasn't done though, finding the back of the net two minutes later, giving her 59 goals on the year. Aly Fries and Madison Ostrick rounded out the Spiders' scoring attack as the 19 goals are the most for a Spider team in A-10 Tournament history.
