Sophomore Joe McSorley made 11 saves and freshman Chris Gray matched a career high with five points to help lead the Boston University men's lacrosse team to a 10-4 win over Dartmouth on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field. BU (2-1) held to a 2-0 lead just 6:59 into the proceedings thanks to a pair of goals by senior Jack Wilson. After Dartmouth (1-1) responded to cut the lead to 2-1, Gray found senior Ryan Hilburn cutting through the middle to bring the lead back to two. Then, with just 1:22 left in the quarter, sophomore Brendan Homire fed junior James Burr to make it 4-1. Burr scored the lone goal of the second quarter with 9:37 on the clock, as both teams played tough defense. The teams traded goals in the third quarter, with Burr finding Homire for the Terrier strike, to create a 6-2 lead entering the final frame. BU erupted for four goals in the final frame, with senior Hayden Ruiz factoring on three of them. Ruiz scored just 54 seconds into the quarter before assisting on one of Gray's two goals of the stanza. Ruiz also found Burr for the junior's second strike of the contest. McSorley made two spectacular stops in a row on back-to-back point-blank chances during the fourth quarter to cap off the best performance of his collegiate career. Senior Colin MacDougall played the final 2:15 between the pipes and stopped both shots he saw.
