The Moravian College men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-8 decision to visiting The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field as the Greyhounds celebrated Senior Day to end the 2019 season. The Hounds, who finish the season at 8-7 overall and 2-4 in Landmark Conference action, had six goal scorers in the match led by junior attack Cade Siddron, who had three goals. Sophomore attack Connor Hull contributed a goal and an assist while sophomore defender Tanner Leslie, senior midfielder Dominick Gurreri, senior midfielder Austin Adams and freshman attack Connor James all netted one goal. Senior attack Mark Laratta added three assists to finish his career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 197 points on 133 goals and 64 assists, while junior long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke had one assist. Schicke also had a team-high seven ground balls to go with a pair of caused turnovers, and he was 2-for-6 on face-offs while Leslie had three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior midfielder Rick Guerra had a pair of ground balls and won four face-offs, and he completed his career with school records of 480 face-offs won and 925 face-offs taken while senior defender Brian Biase and senior midfielder John Kerrison each scooped up two ground balls. Senior goalie Kurt Dick registered four saves in 20 minutes of action, and he completed his career with school records of 25 victories and a 9.42 goals-against average while sophomore goalie Will Dadouris had 11 stops in 40 minutes between the pipes. Scranton scored the first two goals of the match before James netted a goal off of a pass from Laratta with 6:47 left in the first quarter. The Royals would score four more times to lead 6-1 after 15 minutes of action. Scranton also scored three goals in the second quarter while Siddron had a hat trick in the period as the Royals headed to the intermission with a 9-4 edge. The Royals outscored the Hounds, 5-3, in the third quarter and 2-1 in the fourth quarter as Moravian ended its year with just the second winning season in program history. Prior to the match, the Greyhounds honored the senior class of Gurreri, Adams, Laratta, Guerra, Biase, Kerrison, Dick, Jack Gozzard, Hayden DuPont, Alec Oriolo, John Polich, Robert Gellatly and Anthony Pontone. The group helped the Greyhounds return to varsity status in 2016 and posted a 31-28 record in their careers with the first postseason appearance in program history.
