Michigan (1-0) had a historic day on offense, breaking multiple program and individual single-game records en route to the victory. The team's 22 goals broke the program's previous record of 20, set in 2014 against Mercer. Attackmen Josh Zawada and Michael Boehm each set records on the afternoon. Junior Zawada finished with five goals and five assists (10 points) to set the new individual program record for single-game points and single-game assists. He also sits at fifth place all-time in helpers with 36. Boehm, a sophomore, finished the game with six goals and three assists (nine points). The previous single-game points mark was held by Ian King, who went for eight points against Detroit on Feb. 14, 2015, while the single-game assists mark was four, reached six times -- the last time by Zawada in 2020. A trio of Wolverines making their Michigan debuts found the back of the net with freshman attackman Ryan Cohen leading the way behind two goals and three assists. Freshman Aidan Mulholland and graduate transfer Hakan Atillasoy finished with one goal each. U-M led 3-2 after one, and after the teams traded goals early in the second to make the score 4-3, Michigan scored nine consecutive goals -- six in the second stanza and three more to begin the second half. The Wolverines led 10-3 at the half and 18-6 after three. Bellarmine (0-2) was led by Brayden Brown who finished with five goals. Michigan dominated the faceoff dot, going 28-of-37 (76 percent). Senior Nick Rowlett went 15-of-21 and sophomore Justin Wiefeldt went 9-of-11. Sophomore goalie Shane Carr made his first collegiate start in goal, stopping six shots against seven goals allowed. Michigan returns to U-M Lacrosse Stadium next Saturday (Feb. 12) and will host Detroit-Mercy at 1 p.m.
