The 17th-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team used a 10-goal first quarter en route to posting a 22-0 victory over Randolph on Wednesday evening at Wilson Field. The win upped the Generals' (12-4, 9-0) regular-season ODAC winning streak to 20 straight and clinched W&L the top seed for the ODAC Tournament for the third year in a row. The Blue & White had 16 different goal scorers in the contest led by junior attackman Mike Weaver (Lititz, Pa. / Cedar Crest), who notched three goals and one assist, all coming in the first quarter. Senior attackman A.J. Witherell (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) added one goal and three assists in the opening 15 minutes as well. Sophomore attackman Taylor Witherell (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) and sophomore midfielder Stuart Greenspon (Aldie, Va. / Episcopal) chipped in one goal and three assists each, while senior attackman Robert Cooleen (Princeton, N.J. / Lawrenceville School), senior midfielder Nicholas Rodman (Atlanta, Ga. / North Atlanta), junior midfielder Garrett Cannon (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) and sophomore midfielder Ben Mulholland (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) all tallied two goals. Four goalkeepers played for the Generals, with each playing one quarter. Sophomore Jack Taylor (Baltimore, Md. / Saint Paul's) started and earned the win, making one save in 15 minutes. As a group, the goalies stopped four shots total. Washington and Lee held advantages of 47-11 in shots, 44-19 in ground balls and 15-10 in faceoffs. Randolph (3-13, 0-9) was led by senior midfielder Prince Charles, who took a team-best four shots, won six faceoffs, caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Three goalkeepers saw action led by sophomore William Doyle, who played the opening 15 minutes and was saddled with the loss after allowing 10 goals with four saves. Washington and Lee will look to improve its overall winning streak to nine straight when it hosts Shenandoah in the regular-season finale on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
