Junior captain Aaron Forster extended his scoring and points streak to 17 in NJIT men's lacrosse 11-6 loss to Delaware on Saturday. NJIT (0-4) was led by Forster's two goals, and Cole Robillard, Johnny Madaras IV, Jackson Boyd and Michael Brimer also added goals. Freshman Max Wilson tallied two assists and Nick Marzullo one assist. For the Blue Hens (2-0) Will Hirschmann notched a hat trick and an assist on the day and Charlie Kitchen and Andrew Romagnoli had two goals and an assist a piece. Highlanders took the lead in the first quarter with just over six minutes played off a man-up goal by Forster assisted by Wilson. Delaware scored next two goals to end the first quarter, and was the first to score in the second. Forster's second goal of the game tied it up at two in the second quarter, as the senior rolled around the crease and shot a low ball as he was falling to the ground. The Highlanders had the ball in the offensive end the last minute of play, and Ryan Darrow took a shot at the last seconds but it was saved by Matt DeLuca and Delaware had the 3-2 at halftime. The Blue hens took their biggest lead of the game with four unanswered goals in the third to make it 7-2. NJIT ended the third scoring a man-up goal from Robillard and then another with from Boyd, who scored off a save from DeLuca with a quick fire shot into the net. Madaras started the scoring in the fourth, scoring an unassisted goal not even a minute into the quarter, and diminishing the Blue Hen lead, 7-5. Delaware scored another two goals, before Nick Marzullo ran the ball up the field to the opposite goal and dished the ball of to Brimer, who scored his first collegiate goal. The Blue Hens added on two more goals at the end of the fourth to make the final 11-6 score. Marzullo made 12 saves in the loss, while DeLuca had 14 in his second win of the season. The Highlanders lead back home, hosting VMI on February 24 for a 12pm game at Drew University's Ranger Stadium.
