Brown goalie Phil Goss actually had a below-average statistical day against Princeton, which tells you that he's had a lot of big days against the Tigers in his career. To that list you can add Saturday's game on Sherrerd Field. Goss, who averaged 17.3 saves per game in his first three games against Princeton, had 16 saves, many of them big and many of them difficult, as Brown overcame an early four-goal deficit to defeat Princeton 14-10. Goss, a junior, now has 68 saves in three regular-season and one Ivy League tournament game against the Tigers. The loss dropped Princeton to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the Ivy League, four days after the Tigers defeated No. 9 Brown 14-13 on Sherrerd Field. Princeton is 0-3 in the Ivy League for the second-straight year, but unlike last year, should Princeton win out from here - as it did a year ago - it almost surely would make the Ivy tournament. Princeton led 4-0 after goals from Alexander Vardaro, Emmet Cordrey, Phillip Robertson and Michael Sowers in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Brown came to back to make it a 4-2 game after one and then a 6-5 Brown advantage at the half. The score would have been different had Goss not made 10 of his saves in the first half, many of them in close or on tough shots. Brown led by two before consecutive Cordrey goals tied it at 8-8 late in the third, but Brown finished the game with a 6-2 run. Cordrey's three goals and four points led the Tigers, and he now has 20 goals and 13 assists for his senior year. Sowers had a goal and two assists, giving him 214 points for his career and moving within one point of Jon Hess for third-place all-time at Princeton in scoring. Vardaro had a pair of goals and an assist for a three-point day of his own. Chris Brown, Beau Pederson and Charlie Durbin had a goal and assist each. Jake Stevens, had another strong day with an assist, a caused turnover and six ground balls. George Baughan, who caused five turnovers against Denver, caused four more against the Bears. Luc Anderson also had four caused turnovers.
