GAME NOTES
Junior attack Foster Cuomo set a new career high in goals (six) and points (eight), surpassing the 5-2-7 he had earlier this season against NJIT.
The Bobcats went into the fourth quarter with an 8-7 lead and outscored Detroit Mercy 6-4 in the final frame, with Cuomo having a hand in every tally with four goals and two assists. He scored the final four goals for the Bobcats, two of which came while playing a man down.
The pivotal stretch came when Cuomo scored twice 38 seconds apart to put the Bobcats up 13-10, both off feeds from junior attack Mike Fletcher, the first of which came with 4:10 left and Quinnipiac a man down and clinging to an 11-10 lead. The second came at the 3:32 mark to effectively seal it.
Cuomo started the fourth quarter off by feeding freshman attack Jake Tomsik for a goal to put the Bobcats ahead 9-7 with 13;45 left.
The Titans answered that goal 23 seconds later and tied the score ay 9-9 with 11:42 to go.
Cuomo assisted on a goal from senior midfielder Brian Feldman with 10:24 to go to put the Bobcats ahead to stay, and he then scored a man down with 8:32 to go to put Quinnipiac ahead 11-9.
Senior midfielder Ryan Corcoran and Cuomo gave Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes, but Detroit rattled off five straight goals to take a 5-2 lead with 12:01 left in the second.
Tomsik ended a 23-minute scoring drought for the Bobcats when he scored with 1:57 left in the half to cut the Detroit Mercy lead to 5-3, then jump-started the Bobcats in the second half with a goal at the 12:31 mark of the third quarter to close to within 5-4.
Fletcher and Cuomo then buried goals at the 11:39 mark and the 10:53 mark of the third, respectively, to put the Bobcats in front, and Fletcher capped off a 5-0 Bobcat run with a goal with 5:03 left in the third, off the second assist from sophomore midfielder Tyler DeVito.
