The Radford (0-4) women's lacrosse team took on their third in-state opponent, Liberty (2-3) on Wednesday evening. The Highlanders took the lead twice early and battled late but the game ultimately went to the Flames with a final score of 18-10. Radford opened the scoring on the day thanks to Brittany Rinaldi's first goal of the season, and first of many goals on the day. Back-to-back goals by Liberty gave them the 2-1 edge, but Radford immediately responded as Margaret Gleason tied the game up at two with her fourth goal of the season. Rinaldi gave the Highlanders the lead once again at 3-2, but the Flames would outpace the Highlanders on an 11-1 scoring stretch to take command of the game going into the half. Radford rebounded strong in the second half of the game outscoring Liberty 6-5. Rinaldi had a huge offensive showing in the second half scoring three of her five goals of the day. Kirsten Grzybowski added her first goal of the season, while Grace Gleason added a goal of her own. After four straight goals were scored by Radford within the last ten minutes of the game, Liberty added two goals in the last couple of minutes to reach the final score of 18-10. Brooke Bryan paced the offensive efforts for Liberty with four goals with five other Flames notching two or more goals. Maddie Bowman had a busy day in the net with nine saves which is her highest mark in a single game this season. Bowman's original season-high was eight saves at Coastal Carolina. Highlander Highlight Rinaldi's five goals were the most she has scored in a single game in her long career at Radford. The last time she scored three or more goals was back in 2018 against Butler. Up Next Radford is finally back at home for senior day this upcoming Saturday. Radford is slated to face off with George Mason at 1 p.m.
