Score: #2 Maryland 13, #17 Michigan 5 Attendance: 1,288 Records: U-M (7-3, 0-1 B1G), Maryland (8-1, 1-0 B1G) Next U-M Event: Sunday, April 8 -- at No. 10 Rutgers (Piscataway, NJ), noon, ESPNU ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17 University of Michigan men's lacrosse team fell to the No. 2 Maryland Terrapins by a 13-5 score line Saturday (March 31) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. Senior goalie Tommy Heidt marked a career-high 15 saves on the afternoon. The Wolverines (7-3, 0-1 B1G) traded goals with the Terps (8-1, 1-0 B1G) over the first 20 minutes, before a Terrapin transition goal from Bryce Young made it 3-2 at the 10:59 mark of the second. Just over three minutes later, senior midfielder Chase Young knotted the contest at 3-3 on a sweep with an overhand high-to-high release at the 7:27. Maryland closed the half on a three-goal run to retake the lead at 6-3 heading into the break. In the opening half, freshman Connor Cronin proved vital at the dot, going 7-of-11, and started the contest winning 5-of-6 draws, while senior goalie Tommy Heidt made eight saves. Conversely, U-M turned the ball over eight times in the opening stanza. Coming out of the half, Michigan went on a two-goal run of its own to cut the deficit to one goal. Noseworthy was able to put an end to the run just over two minutes into the quarter on a feed from freshman Kevin Mack found Noseworthy on a step-down bounce shot to cut the lead to two goals. The Wolverines then cut it to one score at the 10:02 mark, as Young diced through a defender and finished in close to make the tally 6-5. Michigan's offense, coupled with a pair of penalties, then went stagnant. Maryland's vaunted defense held the Wolverines scoreless for the next 24:58 of regulation, while the Terps scored the final seven goals of the contest, keyed by a pair of man-up goals from Bubba Fairman.
