Senior Samuel Mishkind (Chappaqua, N.Y.) finished with four goals and four assists and junior Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass.) contributed four goals and two assists as Babson College overwhelmed Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 20-2, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field. Babson, which has won three straight games, improves to 5-4 overall and 1-0 league play, while Mass. Maritime slips to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the NEWMAC. First-year Trevor Tyrer (Northport, N.Y.) finished with two goals and three assists, while senior Niall Dillon (Duxbury, Mass.) scored twice and dished out two assists for the Beavers. Junior Troy Nanfelt (Lakeville, Mass.) also had two goals, while first-years Hutch Torregrosa (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Jack Gregory (Mendham, N.J.) combined to win 19-of-23 face-offs. Torregrosa also led all players with 12 ground balls. Junior Christopher Aranalde (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made eight saves on nine shots over the first 39 minutes, while junior Andrew Tymkiv (Oakvile, Ontario) and first-year Austin O'Brien (Boston, Mass.) combined to stop three shots over the final 22 minutes for Babson. Senior Ted Powers (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Trey Guerrini (Foxboro, Mass.) each had a goal for the Buccaneers, who got a combined 14 saves from senior Michael Dolan (McLean, Va.) and junior Matthew Pierson (Longmeadow, Mass.). Mishkind scored two early goals to help the Green and White build a 4-0 advantage just over six minutes into the contest. Guerrini got Mass. Maritime on the board at the 8:26 mark of the opening stanza, but Allen scored twice in less than three minutes late in the frame to spark a 14-goal Babson run. The Beavers won all 10 face-offs in the second quarter and scored nine goals in the period, including two apiece by Allen and Nanfelt to push the lead to 15-1 at the half. Mishkind and Dillon each had a man-up goal in the third quarter as Babson converted two of its three extra-man chances, and Tyrer notched the only tally of the fourth off an assist from first-year Ryan Donovan (Cohasset, Mass.) with just under 11 minutes to play. Both teams return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as Babson travels to Endicott, while Mass. Maritime hosts Clark.
