VESTAL, N.Y.---Binghamton (4-5) dropped their final non-conference matchup of the season at the hands of No. 20 Lehigh (5-3). The Mountain Hawks used a three goal run in the second quarter to take a 8-5 lead over BU. The Bearcats responded with two goals in the third quarter to trim the lead to one before Lehigh responded with two goals of their own to push the lead back up to three before the start of the fourth quarter. Lehigh's Christian Mule scored his sixth goal of the evening in the fourth quarter to give the Mountain Hawks a 11-7 lead. A late comeback attempt came up short for the Bearcats as they were able to trim the lead to 11-10 with 5:24 left in the contest. Lehigh put a stop to the BU run with 1:24 left in the game, when Tommy Schilling scored to make it 12-10. "I was proud of the way we competed, there were a couple of moments where we gave up a few too many goals to beat a really good team like that," head coach Kevin McKeown said. On the offensive end, junior Quinn O'Hara had a career day, scoring three goals and adding an assist for a team high four points. Six other Bearcats were able to find the back of the net including senior Daniel MacKinney who scored twice and senior Kevin Winkoff who extended his scoring streak to nine games. Sophomore Trey Sofield scored his first career goal in the second quarter to tie things up at five. Defensively, the Bearcats were led by senior Max Verch who caused three turnovers and redshirt junior Teddy Dolan who finished with 13 saves. Five other players for BU were able to be disruptive and cause a turnover. The Bearcats will return to America East play to close out the 2022 regular season. BU will be on the road this Saturday at NJIT, the game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
