The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (2-2) defeated Emmanuel (1-3) by a score of 15-13 Saturday afternoon inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. After ending the first frame tied at four, the Lions outscored Emmanuel 6-2 with both Spencer Andrews and Tremain Hill netting two apiece. Mars Hill carried a 10-6 advantage after 30 minutes of play. Emmanuel responded with five straight goals in the third quarter to take the 11-10 lead. Alex Stull recorded two of the team's goals during the stretch. A goal by Zac Carrigan with 19 seconds left in the frame allowed the Lions to tie the game entering the final frame. Mars Hill picked up the first three goals of the fourth as Carrigan, Hill, and Justin Lundy gave the Lions a three-goal advantage. With just over five minutes remaining, Emmanuel's Shamazz Durrant cut the deficit to two. The Lions took back-to-back penalties, finding themselves down by two men for 1:30. A stellar defensive effort along with key saves from Ryan Prylinski kept the two-goal advantage. The Lions' defense killed another penalty late after Durrant pulled Emmanuel within one with 2:02 remaining. With 36 seconds remaining and one second remaining on the shot clock, Lundy launched a low shot from 20 yards out beat the goalkeeper to provide the Lions an insurance marker. Mars Hill jumped out to an early 3-1 lead as Carrigan, Andrews, and Devin Napol each recorded a tally. Emannuel, in the final seven minutes of the first, went on a 3-1 run to end the frame tied at four. Mars Hill killed seven of the Emmanuel man-up situations while also winning 21-of-30 faceoffs. Carrigan (3g, 2a) and Lundy (2g, 3a) led the Lions with five points apiece followed by four each from Andrews and Hill, who both recorded three goals and one assist. Prylinski stopped 11 shots for his first win of the season. Mars Hill wraps up there five-game homestand with a Wednesday afternoon tilt versus Shorter. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
