DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Led by five goals apiece from senior Robert Hart and senior Tyler Reilly, the Keene State men's lacrosse program opened Little East Conference (LEC) competition with a commanding 19-10 win over UMass Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon at Cressy Field. Records Keene State: 5-3, 1-0 LEC UMass Dartmouth: 1-6, 0-1 LEC How It Happened The Owls received a career-high tying nine-point performance from Hart with five goals and four assists, while Reilly tallied five goals and two assists. Sean Peters and Mike Rizzo each tallied a hat-trick for the Corsairs, while goalkeeper Matt LaFond recorded a team-high five ground balls. UMass Dartmouth struck first with back-to-back goals with 12:18 remaining in the first quarter, before Keene State fired off on a 4-0 run, ignited by an unassisted goal by senior Bryan Rotatori, to grab a 4-2 lead. The Corsairs would gain one more of the quarter off the stick of Donovan Prozinski, but the Owls maintained their two point advantage at the end of one, as Hart found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Dave Wiedenfeld, to give Keene State a 5-3 edge. The Owls continued to push their lead in the opening of the second stanza, as Keene State scored the first four goals with strikes from Rotatori, Reilly, junior Hunter Arnold, and junior Jon Nassif to make the score 9-3. Jordan Torres got one back for UMass Dartmouth with 6:24 to go, before back-and-forth goals from the two teams closed out the second quarter, with Owls holding a 10-5 advantage at the break. The Corsairs would come as close as four in the remaining two stanzas, but Keene State extended its lead to double-digits in the fourth stanza with a strike from Reilly with 6:28 to go to give the Owls a 19-9 edge, their largest lead of the game.
