BOSTON – Eleven different members of Boston University women's lacrosse team found the back of the net as the Terriers matched their program single-game scoring record with a 23-10 rout of American Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. Kailey Conry made her presence known after missing the last three games due to injury, amassing 10 points on four goals and six assists. Conry's second assist of the game put her at 180 career points, surpassing head coach Lauren Morton to break into the top-10 all-time points leaders list in program history list. Emily Vervlied was also outstanding in the offensive third, piling up five goals and one assist to set a new career high with six points, while Ava Barry and Hannah Kenneally posted hat tricks. Kaitlin Belval led the Terriers on the draw with seven decisions and the goalkeeping tandem of Kennady Smith and Bianca Smith each made a trio of saves. How it Happened BU exploded out of the gates as Vervlied and Barry pushed a 3-0 run over a 53-second span. Conry fed Belval and followed with a solo strike of her own to further the lead to 5-0 just over seven minutes into the game. American started to press with back-to-back goals, but Vervlied answered by dodging past a trio of defenders and delivered a backhanded shot just inside the post. However, the Eagles pull another 2-0 run until Kelly Mathews and Belval swung the four-goal edge back to the Terriers with two straight free position goals. Conry played a hand in the final three goals of the first half, finding Barry again before netting a pair of scores as the Terriers held the upeer hand at 11-6 at the break. Kenneally opened the second half by netting a free position goal before Vervlied and Conry combined for the next three goals, putting the score at 16-5 just five minutes into the frame. Kenneally stayed hot, intercepting an Eagle clear attempt and went directly to the cage, and capped her hat trick with another strike less than a minute later to put the running clock on with 23:49 left. Catherine McAuley, Michelle Seger, Bridget McCarthy and Michelle Seger each got on the board as the Terriers outscored the Eagles 12-4 in the second half. Game Notes Conry moved her career total to 188 career points, Chris Fleming ('84), who had 185 career points. Conry handed out six assists, one more than American's total for the game. BU remained undefeated against American at 6-0 and has put the running clock on in each of the last four games. Tonianne Magnelli followed Belval with six draw controls and also added two ground balls and two caused turnovers. The Terriers held a 25-9 advantage in draw controls. Seger's goal marked the first of her career. Eleven of BU's 23 goals were assisted. Up Next The Terriers will open up a three-game road trip, starting on Tuesday, April 9 at New Hampshire. Tuesday's game will mark the final non-conference game of the season.
