Five points apiece from senior Jen Giles and junior Kali Hartshorn, and 14 saves on a .667 percentage from senior Megan Taylor led the No. 2 Maryland women's lacrosse team (11-0) to a convincing 15-7 win over No. 14 Princeton on Wednesday night. "Really proud of our team's effort today on both ends of the field, in the center circle and in the goal cage," said head coach Cathy Reese. "Our girls did a great job against a really tough Princeton team that is really fast and creates a lot of offensive opportunities. Defensively we really stepped up today and had a great game." Hartshorn led a dominant effort from the draw circle with 11 as the Terps won the draw control battle 18-6. Defensively, Maryland shot 57.7 percent while holding Princeton to just a 26.9 percent clip. Taylor tied a season with 14 saves, stopping seven in each half. The senior now has 107 saves on the season to only 73 goals allowed, a .594 percentage. As a team, Maryland tied a season best 10 caused turnovers led by three apiece from redshirt junior Meghan Doherty and junior Lizzie Colson. That mark is a career-best from Doherty and ties a career-high for Colson. Giles and Hartshorn led with four goals, each also assisting on one goal. Maryland's assist leader Brindi Griffin had another three tonight while also scoring a crafty goal in the first half. Graduate student Erica Evans and senior Meghan Siverson each added two goals of their own. Maryland started the game quick, scoring five of the first six goals from five different goal scorers and three different passers. After goals by Hartshorn and Siverson, the Terps led 8-4 at halftime. In the second half, Maryland scored the first four goals, hitting on three straight free position attempts after an unassisted Giles goal started the second half scoring. After Princeton got one back with 10 minutes remaining to make the score 12-5, Hartshorn scored two more and Siverson got her second of the half to give Maryland their biggest lead at 10 before the Tigers ended the game with two straight goals. With tonight's win, Maryland improves to 11-0 this season and has now won 82-straight games at home. This is Maryland's third straight and seventh top-25 win of the season. Next up, the Terps will get back to conference play, traveling to Rutgers on Saturday for a 5:00 contest that will air live on the Big Ten Network.
