WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by Kailey Conry's Turnpike Trophy MVP effort and milestone night, the Boston University women's lacrosse team outdueled Holy Cross, 23-14, Wednesday night at Kuzniewski Field. Conry set the single-game assist record with 10 helpers, breaking Catie Tilton's record that stood since 2012. The junior also matched her single-game points record with 13 points, equaling her effort from last season's 13-point effort against Harvard. Additionally, Conry's third assist of the game put her at 200 career points, making her the fastest Terrier in program history to reach the 200-point milestone. How it Happened Conry set the tone early, splitting a double team and found the upper 90 while absorbing contact just 75 seconds into the game. Conry stayed hot, feeding Emily Vervlied for another score before going solo from behind the cage to make it 3-0 Terriers at the six-minute mark. Kelly Mathews and Kaitlin Belval followed to make it a 5-0 game. Following Holy Cross breaking through on the scoreboard, Mackenzie Howe and Makenzie Irvine slipped in scores within 31 seconds of one another, furthering the upper hand to 7-1 at the halfway point in the first half. Lexi Lewis buried a free position shot into the low corner and Ava Barry also found a soft spot in the corner to push the command to 9-1 with 10 minutes to go before the break. The Crusaders made things interesting with two straight goals, but Mathews and Conry each found the back of the net in the final two minutes of the frame to reclaim the eight-point lead. BU exploded out of the gates to open the second stanza, as Vervlied, Lewis and Barry roped in three straight to push a 10-goal lead with 27 minutes left in regulation. Holy Cross used a 3-0 run to cut the deficit in half, but Hannah Kenneally put an end to the run with two straight goals. However, the Crusaders pushed out another 3-0 streak to make it a 16-10 game with 17:22 to play. Conry fed Irvine and Barry, while Catherine McAuley put the final touches on the game as the Terriers secured their second 23-goal effort of the season. Game Notes BU won its ninth straight game against the Crusaders and remained undefeated in Patriot League games at 6-0. Conry racked her career point total to 209 and is 10 points shy of surpassing McKinley Curro '10 to rank eight on the all-time leaderboard. The Terriers finished with six road wins during the regular season, the most since going 6-2 on the road in 2012. Additionally, BU reached 11 wins for the first time since the 2012 campaign. Barry and Lewis also set new career scoring marks, as Barry slotted in five goals while Lewis tabbed four. Belval led the team with seven draw controls and is two points away from reaching the 100-point milestone. Up Next BU will return home for its final two games of the regular season, starting by kicking off the fourth annual Lax-A-Palooza against Army West Point Saturday. Lax-A-Palooza will include a free BBQ, live music, a cash bar, games, and a free fanny pack giveaway. Opening draw is set for noon, while the men's team will follow with their own Turnpike Trophy matchup at 3:30 p.m.
