The Butler lacrosse team fell to the Detroit Mercy Titans 16-6 Saturday afternoon. The loss moves the Bulldogs to 0-4, the Titans are now 2-2. Led by a Haley Hallenbeck hat trick, the Bulldog offense couldn't overcome the 10-2 deficit at halftime. Ashley Guerra, Elizabeth Davide and Karina Latsko each added a goal for Butler. Butler would strike first, just minutes into the first half, to take a 1-0 lead off a goal from Hallenbeck, assisted by Ashley Steffes. The Titans answered with a 4-0 run until Latsko scored the second goal for the Bulldogs. Detroit Mercy went on a 5-0 run to end the half to give them an eight-point lead. The Bulldogs opened the second half strong, scoring two-straight goals to cut the Titans lead to six. Guerra scored her third goal of the season to open the half. Hallenbeck quickly followed with her second goal of the game, assisted by Journey Fischbeck. Hallenbeck scored her final goal of the game off an assist from Madeline Hooks to bring the score to 13-5 with 10 minutes to play. The junior midfielder now has a team-high seven goals on the season. Elizabeth Davide scored Butler's final goal off a free position attempt. The Titans offense was led by Morgan Girardi and Jordyn Beam, each scoring four goals for Detroit Mercy. Goalkeeper Allison McDonough earned her second win for the Titans. The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday with a home match against Campbell. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
