Bryant downed Stetson, 19-13, in women's lacrosse action on Sunday at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand. Nine different players scored goals for the Hatters (0-6), but a 7-goal flurry but the Bulldogs (3-3) midway through the first proved to be the difference. "We really put in a strong effort for the entire game today, we just didn't execute," Stetson head coach Christy Leach said. "We changed our energy in the second half and fought for some balls and we caused a lot of turnovers on defense. That was good to see." With the scored tied at two goals apiece at the 21:41 mark of the first half, Bryant scored took control of the game by scoring nine unanswered goals during an 11-minute span. The Bulldogs led 9-2 before Stetson's Marian Rotella stopped the bleeding with a goal at the 7:32 mark. Quinn Roe followed with a goal less than two minutes later to make it 9-4. It remained a 9-4 game into halftime. Stetson tried to stay in the game, getting goals from Karli Maguire, Roe, and Shelby Lehmann in the first eight minutes, but the Bulldogs kept pace. After Lehmann's goal with 22:04 left in the game, Stetson was within 12-7 but the Bulldogs kept coming. After Lehmann's goal, Bryant scored five of the next six goals and led 17-8 with 15:03 to play. Stetson had one last charge. After a lull in the action, the Hatters scored four straight goals to get within 17-12 with 9:36 to go but that was as close as they'd get. Roe Rotella, Lehmann and Taylor Zuberer each scored twice to lead the Hatters. Natalie Langella led Bryant with five goals. The Hatters next begin ASUN Conference play when they visit Liberty, Noon, Sunday, March 24 in Lynchburg, Va.
