Smithfield, R.I. (April 20, 2019) – The Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team topped Bryant by a 19-8 margin on Saturday to collect its 10th straight victory, which ties the record for the longest win streak in program history. The Mountaineers also won 10 consecutive contests during the 2004 campaign, when they went on to claim their first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship. The Mountaineers improved to 13-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play with the win to remain atop the league standings. The 13 wins for the Mountaineers are tied for the third-most in a season in program history. The team's record for victories in a season came during the 2004 season when they won 15 games. Kate Kinsella, Jordan Butler and Carly Miller all had big days for the Mountaineers as the trio combined for 18 points in the victory. Kinsella registered a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists to lead all point scorers in the contest. Butler tied her career-high with six goals, and Miller added five points on four goals and one helper. Jordan Groover (1g, 3a), Zoe Hurlburt (2g, 1a) and Emily Davis (2g) also finished with multi-point performances. On the defensive side of the ball, Kaitlyn Ridenour notched a game-high four caused turnovers and Davis added three. Jillian Petito stopped five shots to collect her 13th win of the season in goal. Mount St. Mary's held a big 42-20 shot advantage in the contest, including a 25-12 margin in the second half. The Mount also held advantages over Bryant in both ground balls (18-15) and draw controls (15-13). Bryant (7-7, 3-2 NEC) scored the first three goals of the contest and held the Mountaineers off the board for the opening seven minutes of play before the Mount ripped off six straight goals in a span of 12 minutes to take the lead. Butler got the rally started with the team's first goal of the tilt, and Groover followed with a score under a minute later to cut the Mount deficit to 3-2. Miller then netted three consecutive goals to push the Mount out in front by a pair. Kinsella capped the rally with a goal at the 10:26 mark to make it 6-3 Mountaineers. Caitlin Bolen put an end to the Mount's string of six consecutive goals on a tally with 8:08 left in the half, but the Mountaineers got the final two scores of the stanza from Beanie Colson and Butler to extend the lead to 8-4 at the break. The Bulldogs got goals from Lauren Britton and Jess DeMeo to begin the second half, which cut the deficit down to just two. The Mount then rattled off five of the next six scores, with five different players scoring during the stretch, to extend the lead to 13-7 at the 17:57 mark. With the Mount ahead by five at the midway point of the second half, Butler tallied three straight goals in a span of just over four minutes to give the Mountaineers a commanding 16-8 advantage. The Mountaineers then added goals by Davis, Hurlburt and Kinsella to make it six consecutive tallies to close out the game, as they went on for the 19-8 victory. The Mount returns home for the final two games of the regular season against Sacred Heart (April 26) and LIU Brooklyn (April 28).
