The Butler Bulldogs (3-12) fell to #16 Denver Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs could not erase a 12-goal first half deficit and fall to 0-3 in BIG EAST play. With the win, the nationally-ranked Pioneers move to 11-2 and remain undefeated in conference play (3-0). Denver came out firing in the first half, scoring seven goals before Layla Tattersfield broke up the run to score the Bulldogs' first goal of the game off a free position attempt. The Pioneers would score five more to close the half to take a 12-1 lead into the break. Sydney Pattison got the Bulldogs going in the second half, scoring her seventh goal of the season just over a minute in. Denver's Sammie Morton quickly answered to put the Pioneers up, 13-2. Pattison also had the Bulldogs' third goal off an assist from Ashley Steffes. The Pioneers then went on a 3-0 run before Elizabeth Davide broke it up with a goal on a free position attempt. With 13:09 to play, Denver led 15-4. Pattison ended the game with a hat trick after scoring her third goal with just under nine minutes to play. Denver found the back of the net one more time to take the win with a final score of 16-5. Bea Behrins led the charge for Denver with four goals. Morton posted three goals, while Quintin Hoch-Bullen had two goals and two assists. Three goalies saw time in the cage for Denver, with Carson Gregg playing the first half to earn the win. She allowed one goal and made four saves in her 30 minutes of play. Chloe Lewis entered the game in goal for Denver at the start of the second half, allowing three goals. Alexa DiCaprio played the final 13 minutes and allowed one goal. Amanda Rumsey made the start in the cage for the Bulldogs, receiving the loss and making nine saves. Haley Rayburn entered the game with just over 3 minutes to play in the first half. She made four saves in her 22 minutes of play. Katie McGrath saw the last 11 minutes in goal, making three saves. The Bulldogs have the week off before returning to Varsity Field on April 20 to battle Villanova in their final home game of the season. First draw is set for Noon and the game will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
