The Blue Hens had their three-game winning streak snapped Friday evening as defending National Champion James Madison topped Delaware, 10-3, at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium. Despite posting a season-best 15 caused turnovers and forcing a season-high 25 turnovers, the Hens were never able to capitalize on the offensive end for their lowest offensive showing since April 2017. Chantae Simms led Delaware with a game-high four caused turnovers while Maura McNutt and Julia Dambly each contributed three. McNutt added a game-best five ground balls while Sydney Rausa and Kate Brewster collected four apiece. Brewster finished the game with five saves and a caused turnover. POST-GAME QUOTES Head Coach Kateri Linville "I think the strength of our program has been our defense and the strength of JMU's program has been their offense. Holding them to 10 is a really respectable showing, especially when they dominated the draw. They're a quality opponent and they definitely put us under pressure. We have to get better on the attack in terms of moving the ball and converting. I give them credit for giving us a tough game and we will learn from this and progress." HEN SCRATCHINGS • Chantae Simms moved into third in Delaware history with 83 career caused turnovers. Erin Wein (2013-16) is first all-time with 126. • With a career-best 32 caused turnovers this season, Chantae Simms is sixth in Blue Hens single-season history. Erin Wein holds the record of 39 set in 2016.
