PITTSBURGH - After registering its first 4-0 start since the 1999 season, the Duquesne lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the 2019 campaign in a 23-13 decision to visiting Louisville out of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) on Tuesday afternoon at Arthur J. Rooney Field. HOW IT HAPPENED Rilee Bradshaw got the Dukes on the board first just under two minutes in off the feed by Michaela Connolly. The Cardinals answered with eight of the next nine goals to gain an 8-2 lead. Courtney Battles countered with a pair of scores to cut the deficit in half with 9:24 to play in the opening half. Tessa Chad responded with two goals of her own to give Louisville a 10-4 edge before Connolly scored on the advantage and Tina St. Clair found the back of the net to cut the margin back to four at 10-6 with just under a minute to go in the frame. Chad posted her sixth goal of the half as time expired to put the Cards on top 11-6 at the break. Louisville extended its lead to 12-6 with a goal to open the second half before Duquesne scored three of the next four (Sarah Kollhoff, Haley Matthai and Maddie Hart) to shrink the gap to 13-9. The Cards outscored the Dukes 10-4 the rest of the way, including the final four goals of the game. KEY STATS Tina St. Clair notched her first career hat trick. Rilee Bradshaw also added a hat trick, her third straight game with at least three goals. Courtney Battles and Haley Matthai each recorded a pair of goals for the Dukes. Michaela Connolly had a goal and a team-high two assists. Sydney Reed had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to pace Duquesne while Sarah Kollhoff had a team-high four draw controls.
