The 13th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team used a six-goal, fourth-quarter run to storm past non-conference opponent Chestnut Hill for a 15-14 victory during Saturday's contest at Tullio Field. Devin Pipher led the Lakers (3-2) with four goals and one assist while Caleb Kueber totaled three goals and one assist. Nathan Grenon added two goals and two assists. Also for MU, Sam Crusha tallied two goals and Dom Perna recorded one goal and three assists. Single goals were scored by Jarrett Cook, Benjamin Smith-Wilcox and Nicholas Bartone. Haden Bates made an assist. Bates also was 6 of 7 on faceoffs while totaling seven groundballs. Will Agate picked up five groundballs and Brandon May compiled four GBs and two caused turnovers. In goal, Hunter Emerson made six saves. For Chestnut Hill, J.R. Howell led the way with five goals and two assists. Goaltender Austin Jones recorded 20 saves. The Griffins (3-3) held an 8-3 lead in the second quarter before MU answered with a 5-1 run, starting late in the second and ending early in the third. Crusha had two goals and Perna made three assists during that stretch that pulled Mercyhurst's deficit to 9-8. CHC responded with a 4-1 stretch to widen the gap up to 13-9 before the Lakers went on their decisive run. Trailing 13-9 to start the fourth, Mercyhurst scored its ix goals within a span of 6:34. Pipher got it started with a pair of goals and then Smith-Wilcox scored before Kueber tied the game at 13-all. Perna gave the Lakers the lead with 7:11 remaining and Pipher pushed the lead to two with 6:55. Chestnut Hill scored its last goal with 32 seconds remaining.
