The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team scored six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to defeat Bryant by a score of 11-8 in its home opener on Saturday. This is the first time in program history that the Big Green have defeated the Bulldogs. George Prince and Ben Martin both had four points to lead the team, while Matt Paul was close behind with three. Seven other players had one point each. In net, Daniel Hincks made 10 saves to pick up his second win of the season. Bryant (1-3) got on the board first at 14:06 and good defense on both ends of the field allowed the visitors to hold on to that lead for over 10 minutes before Martin's one-timer at 3:31 tied things up. The Bulldogs had a number of close calls near the end, but Hincks had some good saves to keep it a 1-1 game. It took almost seven full minutes into the second before the tie was broken by a man-up tally by the Bulldogs. Four minutes later, Martin and Prince were back for the second goal in a row; goalie Luke Caracciolo initially save Martin's shot but the rebound bounced up and in for the Green's second of the afternoon. Paul started things off in the third by scoring 31 seconds in and from there, the teams traded tallies until two in a row gave the Bulldogs a 5-4 advantage. Paul capped the quarter with his second of the game, making it a 5-5 contest heading to the fourth. The game completely changed in the fourth quarter. A trio of Bryant goals in the first five minutes gave the visitors an 8-5 advantage, but that proved to be the last goal that the Big Green would allow, as they went on to score six in a row en route to the win. Firsts of the season for Liam O'Connell and Mitchel Myers and another for Martin tied things at 8-8, while two by Prince and a third for Paul ended the game. The Big Green will be on the road for two weekends in a row, starting with UMass Lowell next Saturday, Feb. 29.
