Most men's lacrosse heads have the same open throat configuration and design like the older version Nike CEO, STX Stallion 700, Maverik Kinetik, and the East Coast Dyes Mirage. These lacrosse heads will fit on any type of lacrosse shaft.  Manufacturers have recently introduced new lacrosse heads that contain different types of throat technology and these lacrosse heads will not fit on certain types of lacrosse shafts. These types of lacrosse heads will only fit on hollow lacrosse shafts.   On the left is a shaft that will not work with all heads because it is not hollow, like the one on the right. Here is a list off men's lacrosse heads that contain different types of throat designs and configurations.

The following lacrosse heads do not fit on certain lacrosse shafts:

• STX CEO 2

  A perfect upgrade to the original that now offers a redesigned scop and shorter throat that now has an inner throat plug. 

• STX Surgeon 700

  Specifically designed for those guys coming from X and getting it done on the wings and around the crease. 

• ECD Weapon X

  Our Pro's think that the Weapon X will win the draw, get the ground ball and be a threat on offense. 

• Warrior Burn FO

  The Warrior Burn FO lacrosse head is backed by Trevor Baptiste and he claims it is the best faceoff head he has ever used. 

• STX Duel 2

  Our Pro's feel that the STX Duel II earns the title as one of the best lacrosse face-off lacrosse heads by simply allowing you to place your hand closer to the ball.

• Warrior Evo 5

  A best selling offensive lacrosse head that offers Loc-Throat technology. As the screw inserts into the lacrosse shaft, the legs of the Loc-Throat spread, providing both internal and external pressure for a more secure fit.  

• Warrior Regulator Max Warp Pro

  A very stiff defensive lacrosse head that also offers Loc-Throat technology

Lacrosse heads designed with a lock throat technology will not fit on the following lacrosse shafts: East Coast Dyes Carbon Pro 2.0, EPOCH Dragonfly Series, Epoch Dragonfly Integra Series, STX Stallion SC-Ti OCS w/throat lock     

These are some of the most popular lacrosse heads in the game and they MUST go on a hollow lacrosse shaft.  The good news is that most lacrosse shafts are hollow inside, so finding one to fit these lacrosse heads is not hard. Good lacrosse shaft choices for these lacrosse heads are the Maverik A1, Maverik Mission Blank, and the Nike Vandal. Many carbon shafts now come with "no foam" options as well that should accommodate the throat plug in the head. 

MIXING MANUFACTURERS IS OK!   Many people say they have trouble mixing manufacturers and that the head is too tight or the shaft is too big. That is not true! They will all fit. Take a towel, put it in the throat of the head, put the shaft in place and tap it on. It will fit, trust us, we do it all day long.
